Below, Desai shares what some of her favorite things about the city are.
First, the opportunities for work that Richmond has offered Erica Desai has allowed her the chance to follow her dreams in becoming a nurse. Richmond has several hospitals as well as the MCV center in downtown Richmond that hosts many interns, residents and other student-types looking to learn from one of the most reputable hospitals in the country.
As a single twenty-four year old professional, living in North Carolina is a great place to be. The city is home to a large college population from Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Richmond; so not only are there plenty of people in her age group in the area but there is also a thriving arts scene. VCU is has a nationally-recognized arts program that has produced incredible young talents and boosted them into the competitive arts scene. It is most obvious in areas such as Cary Street, where musicians and visual artists alike join every weekend for shows and exhibits that are decorated with spirits and the presence of a young, educated crowd filled with energy and excitement for the city that surrounds them.
